NSA/ FBI MoneyPak Ransomware Alert!
Be Alert!
Be on the lookout for any variation of the moneypack ransomware/virus. If, when you turn on your computer or log in, if you see a screen telling you to purchase a “Moneypak” card, from CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, 7-Eleven or a similar store, you have been infected.
DO NOT purchase the Moneypak. This is a SCAM!
This “Ransomware” pretends to be a notification from the NSA Internet Surveillance Program, PRISM, and Computer Crime Prosecution Section OR Other Government organization that states child pornography has been found on your computer. It also states that you need to pay a fine in the amount of $300 or you will face legal prosecution. It is important to note that this is a computer infection and you are not actually being targeted by these agencies.
What To Do?
Hold the power button down for 10 seconds, to shut down the machine and bring it in to N-Sync and we will be able to remove it for you.
Note:
- If you have a laptop/notebook please be sure to bring in the power cord.
- For Desktops bring the tower only. We do not need keyboards, monitors, mice.
- Virus Clean Up costs $135 and takes about 6-8 hours.
